NEWS IN
THE YEAR 2006
3 December 2006
Christmas is soon. This time, which should be quiet and
contemplative, unfortunately becomes ever more hectic. Marco
and me also don't remain spared from it. Nevertheless, we
try to make everything with most possible silence and
serenity. We wish all our friends, trip-acquaintances and
readers a quiet advent-time. If you have a few minutes of
time to escape from the everyday life, you always are
heartily welcome on our website. |
24
September 2006

For three
weeks, we are living again in Zurich in a beautiful, light
and quiet three-room-apartment in a green zone of the city.
We already settled
down very well and enjoy the splendid late summer-weather,
even if we are integrated into the moment firmly of our new
jobs.
Sometimes, we are
seized also by the wanderlust
and the most
dearly we would pack our backpacks and would go again on new
trips.
But first,
we must stay here once and have to work, because the money
also in Switzerland doesn't grow on the trees, as you know. |

September 2006
Since the
15. August, Isabella is again in the work-everyday life and
works in a children's home in Brugg, where she likes it very
well so far.
Also Marco found a
job in the meantime and starts working at the 4. September
in the Profidata INC.
At the 29. August,
finally we were ready and we could move into our beautiful,
light and quiet three-room-apartment in Zurich. Fortunately
the weather was moderately well-disposed for us during the
move. We could already set up the apartment beautifully, and
we feel again right at home after two years of
changeability. |
1
August 2006

The beginning of the confederacy is celebrated in
Switzerland at the 1 August. The confederacy was
established with a oath. The legend says that the
three origin departments Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden joined
together to the "eternal association" in the year 1291 on
the meadow of Rütli, to have a defense against the Austrians
and all other enemies. To seal the alliance they swore the
oath of Rütli. Maybe not very well known all over the World,
the Swiss people celebrate their national-day at the 1
August with a lot of parties, speeches and traditional fires
in the alps. Of course at the end the fireworks cannot be
missing. Because of the severe dryness, the celebration this
year will take place without the fires and the fireworks. |

July 2006

Already it past one month since we two travel-birds came back
into our native nest in Switzerland. Diligently, how we
two Swiss are, we found already a beautiful apartment in a
green zone of Zurich. Also we are proficient to look for a
job, and with luck Isabella found also already one. With
hiking in the mountains and some trips to the nature, of
course we also enjoy the splendid summer-weather, that
pleases us in our home country. We wish also all our readers
a beautiful, relaxing summertime. |

June 2006

After our eight-months-trip we landed safely at the 10 of
June at 17.30 o'clock at the airport of Zurich. The
impressions and experiences, that shaped us on this unique
trip, will always stay very well in our remembrances. At the
moment we live with our parents in Mels and Eschenbach. Here
we are received by a beautiful, green nature and a flowering
garden. Our goal for this month will be to settle down again
in Switzerland and slowly go to find a job. |
29 May 2006

The time passes as in the flight, and already one month
more has passed. The Spanish lessons with Salvador make fun,
and we learn in each lesson much new stuff about the
language. Also from the initial jumping in the
dancing-course of Salsa slowly results a supple and flowing
dance. Last week finally we bit into the sour apple and
looked for the return flight tickets to Switzerland. On 10
June we will fly with a charter directly from Las Palmas to
Zurich. Although we look forward to see our family and
friends again, for us it's not easy to say good bye to
the amazing life on this island. |
14 May 2006

After
the restfully and pleasant direct flight of 9 hours from Buenos
Aires we arrived on Sunday 30 April 2006 healthy and lively
at the airport of Gran Canaria. In the capital of the island,
Las
Palmas, we discovered over a friend a beautiful studio with a large terrace. In order to improve our knowledge
about the Spanish language, we are visiting a school.
Also we announced ourselves for a course to dance Salsa.
Equipped with a map, we will also explore the beautiful
mountain world of the island, starting from next week. We remain here
until the end of May, before we plan then the way back to
Switzerland. |

23 April 2006

The big trip from
Sucre to Mendoza was tough, bumpy and very long. 60 hours and during
three nights, we were sitting in a ordinary Bolivian bus. We came into 5
controls, where the police everywhere looked for drugs. Even once we
came into a road blockade for a couple of hours, because the regional
tobacco-farmers struck because they are steering too much the state.
Here in Mendoza we enjoy the sunny, warm autumn weather, with
approximately 20 degrees, in the same hostel like in last December. Also
we use the time to plan our return to Europe. |

8 April 2006
During ten days we experienced a beautiful,
excellent organized and impressive journey by Peru. From our different travel guides we
learned very much
about the history and culture of the different aborigines. As crowning
end of our cultural journey to the world of the Inkas we visited
the unique and indescribable Machu Picchu. Since the evening 6 of
April we are again in La Paz, the secret capital of Bolivia. Now we take
the time, to relax us from the journey, to bring our homepage up to date
and to plan new travel possibilities. |

26 March 2006
After we drove one night and one day by train and bus from Tupiza by way
of Oruro, we reached a little tired in the evening of the 24 of
march, the
topmost city of the world, La Paz. Already during the arrival in
the dawn were we overwhelmed of this gigantic city, whose center lies on
3600m in a ravine. Around this valley hundreds of simple stone houses
were built up to the hills until to 4000m. In the hotel Sucre Palace, directly
on El Prado, the main street of La Paz, we book a room for four
nights. Yesterday and today we moved up and down the steep lanes and by
the innumerable market routes. We are fascinated by the multicolored,
pulsating life and the traffic chaos in the clogged roads with
the cars those are always honking. In good weather, tomorrow we plan to make a
trip on the 5400m high mountain Chacaltaya. Starting from the 28 April
2006, we make a 10 days continuing journey to the lake Titicaca, then to
Puno and Cusco in Peru and at the end we visit the world-well-known ruin city Machupicchu
before we go again back to La Paz. |

22 March 2006

During our journey from Humahuaca over
the Argentine Altiplano until the city to the border La Quiaca, we had
made impressive experiences. Between hundreds running smugglers, we went over the border
bridge, which connects La Quiaca with Villazón the Bolivian city to the
border.
Still on the same afternoon we continued our travel to the small idyllic town Tupiza in the section Potosí. In the very friendly Hostal Colonel Pedro Arraya we remain for two nights. Tomorrow we
continue to drive with the train to Oruro. From there we plan to go right after La Paz further, depending upon possibility. |
18 March 2006
After the interesting impressions in San Antonio de los Cobres, that
3800 meters high, small village in the high country of northern
Argentina, we returned on Friday again in the flat country. Yesterday we
arrived to San Salvador de Jujuy and until tomorrow we will stay in the city. Today we made a
beautiful trip into the Quebrada Humahuaca and the little village Purmamarca. Tomorrow we will then further-travel after Humahuaca. |
|
14 March 2006
Since the 11 of March are we in the region Valles Calchaquíes.
After we experienced, intensely downpours in Tafí del Valle, receives us,
just three hours of journey, in
Santa Maria most beautiful sunshine.
It is crazy, surrounded the area of Santa Maria is announced
already rains, but here it seems to be a dry, sunny island. Yesterday we
made an impressive and informative excursion to the
Ruinas de Quilmes. It is rather difficult to arrive with public
bus to the Highland of Puno and so we decided to drive today
despite rain forecast to Cafayate. Against the weather forecast we are
welcomed here in addition, by a brightly shiny sun. Tomorrow we will travel
to Salta and there we will inform us about possibilities how we can
continue to the highland and to San Antonio de los Cobres. |
|
10 March 2006
Yesterday morning we arrived with the super comfortable Flechabus to San Miguel de Tucumán, the capital of the province Tucumán. In the
cozy, calm Hostal La Posta del Viajero we will stay for two nights. We
plan to know more about the city and their
neighborhood.
Unfortunately the weather is not longer so friendly to us. It rained
yesterday all day long, and also this morning its not better. In the
afternoon the clouds got thinner and we visited the
village Tafi Viejo. The people there live in very modest houses and earn
their money mainly from the rural economy.

6 March 2006

Since 3 March we are in Buenos Aires once again. Like in our last stay on 12 November of last year, when
our large journey in South America began, we stay in the zone San Telmo and
with luck we catch the last room in the hotel Brisas del Mar. In the
last two days we explored by foot the city center of the enormous town. We visited also
further objects of interest, which we omitted the last time. We
still stay here until Wednesday 8. March. Then the journey of far
to San Miguel de Tucuman goes, from where out we start the Trip to
Bolivia. |

27 February 2006

It passed actually already almost one week, since we
arrived on 22 February at the bus terminal of Montevideo! The
beautiful capital of Uruguay with the Spanish flair, offers many
possibilities to drive it out. On the one hand there are some
beautiful beaches at the Rio Plata, those invites for bathing, and on the other hand offers the city many objects of interest
and beautiful boroughs. On past Saturday we made trips to Minas, a
village inside the country and to Piriápolis, a idyllic holidays place
nearly the
coast which is surrounded by 7 wooded hills. Yesterday we drove with the
bus to the holidays center of Uruguay Punta del Este. Tomorrow the journey goes
continuing to Salto by
the Rio Uruguay. |
|
24 February 2006
On 21 February we traveled from Torres to Porto Alegre. We
visited the multicolored and varied city center with all the trouble and
action. The night following, the travel by bus over the border to Uruguay, was very
calm and comfortable. We reached Montevideo on 22 February, where we
find right away a room in the simple, old-venerable hotel Arapey what is in the center
of the
city. Montevideo has an atmosphere, which reminds us strongly of a
Spanish large city. We experienced an interesting city tour and plan
further trips into the country of Uruguay and their
neighborhood to know more of the
landscape and the live of this country. |

15 February 2006

After a beautiful, but unfortunately, rainy week in Camboriú, on Saturday 11 February
we took of to our apartment and traveled to Florianópolis the
capital of the Federal State Santa Catarina. In
the city center, which is situated on the island Santa Catarina, we could
rent a favorable and simple apartment for three days in the aparthotel Dallas. We made two beautiful trips
to various and well known beaches on
the island. Yesterday we further-traveled to the holidays place Torres, where we will spend
our time for one week in the residencial Torre Mar,
apartment Nr. 107. From here we would like to visit a
canyon in the neighborhood and of
course we will also enjoy the white sand beach directly before our door. |
7 February 2006

Our first travel by a nightbus in Brazil was uncomfortable
and a little bumpy. Arrived at Camboriú we looked for a place to stay
for a week. It was not that easy to find a beautiful and nice apartment
but with a little bit of effort at we found one. Now we stay in the Residencial
Alameda apartment 1004 in the 10. Floor. From the balcony we enjoy a view on the
center and the Christ statue, the landmark of the city, which
down-shines with searchlight beam on the city. Yesterday we visited the
industrial city Blumenau created by Germans, where we fed a German menu on a hill
in a German restaurant, in the middle of a forest. In
the coming days we will make trips into the environment, in
addition, will enjoy equal the beautiful natural, sandy beach. |
31 January 2006
After three impressive days in Paraguay in the capital
Asunción we drove over the Argentine border to Posadas and by the
province Misiones after Puerto Iguazú arrived. We are received from

impressive and mystical waterfall in the national park Iguazú,

the largest dam of the world, the Represa de Itaipú. |
28 January 2006
We experience three impressive and experience-rich days in the capital

very nice, simple people. Tomorrow the journey goes
to Encarnación and afterwards over the border and the river Rio
Paraná to Posadas in Argentina. From there we want to drive to the Waterfalls
of Iguazu. |
25 January 2006
After a restless, rainy, partly bumpy travel in a nightbus over not
planned Streets across the humid area Gran Chaco, we arrive punctual at Corrientes. Here the rain and a tropical damp and hot climate receive
us again. In the hotel Hostal Del Rio we have a two-room in the
7. floor with a beautiful view of the Rio Paraná. Yesterday and today we
became acquainted with the authentic city. Tomorrow we will
travel to the capital of Paraguay Asunción. |
21 January 2006

Our trip to Salta
over the super high nearly 5000m hills of the Andes and the Paso
Jama the border to Argentina, passed by without any problems with the
height, because we prepared us very well against the high sickness. Salta
is a beautiful city in the north of Argentina, where it is worthwhile to
stay some days. In the Hostal El Aljibe we book a
beautiful room for 4 nights. Today we visited the well-known valley
Valle Calchaquies, where the red rock with the alone standing
candelabra-cactus mean a landmark of this province. We plan our next
journey for Monday across the Argentine Chaco to Corrientes. |
15 January 2006

After a longer travel across the desert of Atacama we arrive
the oasis village San Pedro de Atacama at the 13 of January. In the

17 January our journey continues across the 4200m
high Paso Jama across the mountains of the Andes to Salta in Argentina. |

In Santiago we met yesterday our Chilean friends, who weget to know in Futillar. Together we
spended a beautiful day in
the 6 million metropolis of Chile. The night we spent once more in a
cosy bus, and reached at 7 o'clock in the morning La Serena. We still enjoy
the marvelous summer weather, and today we walked at the enormous sand beach
and in the old part of town around La Serena. We stay one night in the
hotel Del Cid and tomorrow we will drive with a nightbus to Calama in
the north of Chile. |

friendly family in a Hospedaje. Today we spent a calm day in magnificent
summer weather. Tomorrow we plan a trip to Valparaiso. |
